Dancing Drums is a popular casino game, which has been around a few years now and continues to get a lot of love from slot players. It follows as a spiritual successor of sorts to 88 Fortunes and 5 Treasures, games that have similar betting options and progressive, but Dancing Drums in some ways was perfecting the model the previous two games developed. 5 Slot Machine Strategy Tips You Didn’t Know Existed By Gemma Sykes on February 9, 2012 We all believe that slot machines, one of the most popular casino games, are purely based on luck and nothing else. Jackpots are awarded randomly in the 5 Treasures slot machine, only you’ll increase the chances of this by collecting wilds during your play session. Each time you hit a wild, gold jumps up above the reels into a special pot – along with a sound effect. The more gold you add, the bigger the chances of the random jackpot game starting. 5 Treasures is a 5-reel, 243-line online slot game with bonus spins, instant play, autoplay, video slots, wild symbol, scatter symbol, asian, chinese, luck, ancient civilizations and ancient china themes.

All Ways Winning System and the Base Game

Strategy

The Five Treasures game is a five-reel slot which pays from left to right. The slot utilises the all ways winning system. This system means that you’ll win when matching symbols on consecutive reels, irrespective of the position on the reels. In all, you’ll have 243 ways to win during every spin and these come at the cost of 25 credits.

The leading symbol on the reels is a fiery orange dragon. This dragon looks in a rage, breathing fire and ready to blast anyone in its path. A golden peacock with large plumage is next on the pay table, backed by blue. A green backed golden tiger symbol and a blue backed tortoise follow – perhaps they should have a race? The final themed symbol is a golden fish, on an equally bright yellow background.

Completing the standard symbols are the playing cards 9, 10, J, Q, K and A.

The wild symbol is represented by an intricate symmetrical pattern with red and gold being the most prominent colour. This wild will substitute for any other symbol on the reels apart from the scatter. As you’ll see in the following free spins feature, wilds can lead to landing one of the jackpots.

Open the Red Doors for the Free Spins Bonus Round

The scatter symbol shows two closed red doors. Land 3 or more scatters on the reels and you’ll enter the free spins bonus round. You’ll be awarded 6 free spins in total, but you’ll have a choice to make. During this feature the reels will be filled with the playing cards and just one of the high paying symbols – you get to choose which one.

If you choose the dragon, you’ll have 88 symbols on the five reels in total, to go along with the playing cards. This number increases as the pay-out for the symbols decreases. Pick the golden fish and there will be 128 symbols on the reels.

This feature does add some strategy to the game. It will be tougher to win with the dragon, but you’ll win more when you do. Wins will come more often with the fish, but the pay-outs are lower. It’s your call.

Random Jackpot Feature

During the free spins you’ll find an ornate and colourful pot above the reels. Every time you land a wild in the free spins, a coin will jump off the reels and jump into the pot. Land enough coins and you’ll gain entry into the Jackpot feature.

12 gold coins will now fill the screen. You’ll pick each one in turn to reveal a small child, each different child relating to one of the four jackpots. Land the same child three times and you’ll win the appropriate jackpot. The four Jackpot pays are Mini, Minor, Major and Grand.

Dragon Fire – Five Treasures Slot Design

The base game of Five Treasures plays out on a dark blue tiled background. Looming large around the outside of the reels are the scales of a dragon, winding in the same way as the dragon symbol itself. The scene changes to an appealing dark red when you enter the free spins feature. While animation is a little lacking, the themed symbols are well designed and striking. The accompanying soundtrack does a fine job of transporting you to the Far East.

Five Treasures Overview

Strategy

Five Treasures is an involving and slightly unique slot. With a base game allowing 243 ways to win on every spin, there is potential for that big win at any time, adding to the excitement levels. The free spins feature is certainly original. Choosing which symbol is the most populous is certainly unusual, especially when you’re told exactly how many symbols there are. If luck is on your side, you’ll enter the Jackpot feature from the free spins, and hope you pick the right children.

One of the most frequent questions I get asked by slot machine players is, “Should I play max credits?”

Years ago, anybody that had any knowledge about slot machines knew that you always play the maximum number of credits or coins. It was similar to video poker where you should never play without betting max coins because if you do, you won’t qualify for the bonus when you hit the royal flush. If you can’t afford to play max coins then you need to drop down in the denomination you are playing. In other words, if you can’t afford to play 5 credits on the dollar machine ($5 per spin) drop down to the 50 cent machine so you can play 5 credits ($2.50 per spin). This advice held true for slots as well because almost all slots offered a jackpot bonus.

Let’s first take a look at why that advice was so important. If you didn’t play the maximum coins on those machines you did not qualify for the bonus the machine gave you for the jackpot. By not playing max coins you were not receiving the maximum payback percentage from that machine. As I’ve talked about in the past, every slot machine is set to payback a certain percentage of the money it takes in. This percentage is set over a long period of time so it doesn’t mean that if you put in $100 on a machine that has an 88% payback, you would win $88. That wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense and wouldn’t be much fun. It is set for the long-term, but the casino is guaranteed to make money over the long haul on that machine.

By not betting max coins, you are lowering the payback percentage even more. Some slots have a low set payback percentage so you certainly don’t want to do anything to make it even worse. The best example is the large progressive Megabucks slot machine that I’ve posted about before. You should be shot if you are playing that machine without playing max credits. That slot machine already has a low payback, usually between 85-88%, and by not qualifying for the jackpot that payback is lowered even more. Not only that, but if you ever did hit the jackpot not playing max credits, you would probably want to jump off a bridge. NEVER play these games without max credits bet.

A common mistake that many people succumb to is when they are down to their last credits. Say they are playing a $1 Megabucks machine that requires three credits to qualify for the jackpot. They might put in $100 and when they get down to only $2 left, instead of going through the hassle of cashing out $2 or having to put in another $1 they go ahead and spin the reels with only 2 credits bet. DON”T DO IT. I’m saving you a life of psychiatric counseling if you ever hit the jackpot in this situation.

With the introduction of video slots things have changed dramatically. This advice is no longer viable for many machines. In fact, you want to do the opposite for any machine that doesn’t have a bonus jackpot. As a player you are better off playing one credit on a dollar denomination machine than 4 credits on a 25 cent machine. The reason is the higher denomination machines are usually set at a higher payback percentage. In essence, the proper play on slot machines has reversed. However, there are some video slots that do offer large progressive jackpots or bonus jackpots so for those machines the old rule holds true. Always play maximum coins on those machines or play another machine.

The bottom line is as a gambler you need to understand what you are playing. I know it’s fun to put money in a machine you’ve never played before and just hope for beginners luck, but if you do that on the wrong machine and realize you could have won the million dollar jackpot, you will never forgive yourself.

When this does happen people try to comfort themselves with the notion that the machine only let them hit the jackpot because they weren’t betting max credits. They tell themselves it would not have hit if they were betting maximum credits. That’s completely false. The RNG has no idea how many credits you play, and the RNG sequence for the jackpot is the same no matter how many credits you play. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news to anyone this has happened to, but as long as the machine uses a RNG it’s true.
